Wooden statues

The best wood carvers are currently in Burma. Their carved woodwork is sometimes lace and sometimes they can spend several months to refine their work. But unfortunately in view of this, the craft is getting lost more and more and it is still difficult to find a new generation of sculptors. So there is a lot of fear that these techniques will soon be gone.

The wood used to make the objects under this heading is very varied. Depending on the country, the desired object, the sculptor who will make these works selects the wood used. In Burma, for example, the wood used is mainly teak. Indeed the specificity of teak is that it is very hard, therefore more difficult to carve, but it allows the sculptor to carry out finer and more delicate work without risking breaking the piece of carved wood.
