Traditionally, it is made from a dough of whole wheat flour ( attack) and water (with or without salt).

After kneading the dough well, let it rest for 10 minutes to half an hour. Then divide the ball of dough into small pieces that are flattened into very thin discs. Traditionally, we do not use any work surface to flatten the dough but we proceed in the air, hitting the sheet with one hand on the other. The sheet is cooked very quickly on a metal plate ( tawa). When blisters form on the surface, sheet 1 isturned over.

It is consumed throughout India, Pakistanand northern Sri Lanka. The chapati pieces are rolled into cones so that they can be used as a spoon to consume the dhalsauce. Chapatis are sometimes made from a mixture with corn, millet,or even riceflour.
